INDOOR MURALS
This one is in a bank in Jefferson, IA. It is painted on six panels and installed on a second floor wall in their atrium. It is filled with significant people and places from their area.
Both sections are 14'5" wide. The top is 7'3" high and the bottom piece is 4'7" high. We split it in two pieces because of the ledge.
This is in the office of Pivot Bio in Ames, IA. I enjoyed wrapping the image around the corner.
This mural consists of a landscape painted on the wall and two painted barnwood cut-outs hung on top of it. The cut-outs have lights secured to their backs. It was for Pivot Bio's previous office in Ames, IA.
I made these cut-outs with actual barnwood.
This is in the entryway of the Union Hall of the Electrical Workers Local Union No. 55. It displays linemen repairing the electrical grid in all kinds of weather conditions.
Everything is painted here, including the window and the plant. This mural is in a popular Mexican restaurant in Des Moines called Tasty Tacos.
This is another arched window mural in another Tasty Tacos restaurant.
In this Tasty Tacos mural, we wanted to emphasize the landscape diversity of Mexico.
This bay window is in a private home. I emulated the real woodwork. This family wanted a specific lighthouse "outside" of the window.
The owners of this private home aquired a beautiful 1930's desk and they wanted me to paint the entire room to look like an office from that period. I painted all of the wood paneling as well as the windows.
I painted two colorized photos of old downtown Des Moines within the painted windows. One looks west and the other east down East Locst St.
These photos are two views of the exterior of a sports themed dog kennel. The Avondale Veterinary Clinic and Kennel wanted me to paint a concession stand for dogs.
This is another painting inside the Avondale dog kennel. We wanted to portray the "guests" doing the same things their owners might be doing while away.
This painting is in the lobby of the Avondale kennel, or "pet resort". We created a ritzy animal hotel lobby with the Avondale kennel logo on the wall.
These two murals are in the grooming room.
This mural was created to brighten up an otherwise unused space above the office in a storage facility.
This is inside a 6' x 4' guest bathroom. We made it feel like this room is under water with fish swimming around it.
All four walls have something painted on them.
You see this guy when you close the door!
I painted clouds in this 15' diameter circle on the ceiling of a church built in1917 in Hartford, Iowa.
This painting is an accurate depiction of a location on the Jordan River in Israel. It is above the baptismal tub in a church in Knoxville, Iowa.
This is a scene of the Rocky Mountains. It is 11' x 4', and painted on two wood panels. I added the road and a 1970's red Camero exactly like the one my client once owned.
This mural is on a plywood cut-out. It hangs 1/2" from the wall. These cut-outs allow the outside shape to be a part of the design, and I think they look really cool.
These are two views of a Catholic grade school libray. I made the five cut-out plaques. One reflects the priorities of the school and the others the content of the books on the shelves underneath them.
This one includes three of the actual students in their school attire and my own depiction of Jesus.
This one includes some familiar objects to the students. These colors and objects will appear on other plaques including the mouse to the right behind the lunchbox.
The books shelved below this cut-out are about rocket ships, dinosaurs and skateboarding, among other things.
Everything in all of the other plaques are also in this treehouse.
This is the treasure chest from the treehouse. The books shelved below it include science fiction, fantasy, fiction, and historical fiction.
This one is above a hot tub in a hotel with a Northern Woods theme.
This is the entryway of a Chinese restaurant which features food from the Silk Road region. My painting is designed to look like some famous artwork which is also from that region.
This is inside the same restaurant. I painted it to look like it is old and faded. The imagery is taken from the famous Mogao Grottoes. The owners wanted to capture their culture and still have a contemporary feel.
This one is in a boy's bedroom. I did it in a more cartoony style.
A little girl's bedroom.
This mural is above the dance floor of a sports bar in Des Moines.
